DESCRIPTION:Happy new year everyone!  Hope you had a merry Christmas\, happy Hanukkah\, or joyous whatever. \nOur next Pine Ridge Shooters Club Women’s Group meeting will be in a week:  Jan 3\, 6PM.  Remember\, we’ll go out to dinner afterward for those who’d like to join us. \nTopics for next week will be to announce the newest chapter of A Girl and A Gun\, tell you about AG & AG and why you might want to join it.  We’ll then open the floor to any topics you want to discuss and plan topics for upcoming meetings.   \nTo summarize this first year of our shooters club\, on the Women’s Group side\, we held show and tells for pistols\, rifles\, and shotguns\, accessories and gear bags\, and holsters.  We played with laser pointers to show effective use of cover in a defensive situation\, practiced handling malfunctions\, did some dry practice with dummy rounds\, I showed some videos of the fun I had at the AG&AG Fall Fest 3-gun competition\, and we held a pistol cleaning session.  I ran 3 (or was it 4?) Pistol 101 courses followed by a women’s shoot at Outpost Range.  Did I miss anything? \nFor the next year\, we can replay any of the previous\, or cover new subjects that you’re interested in.  FYI\, at the February 15th general meeting\, we’ll have a US Law Shield representative\, an attorney\, and a former law enforcement officer come talk about gun laws and what you need to know if you have to use your gun in self defense. \nIn summary\, we covered a lot of ground this past year and I need your help charting the course for next year.  Thank you for participating in our club\, and I hope to see you soon. \nSue \n  \nP.S.  Pistol 101 has now been broken into 2 sessions:  Introduction to Pistol Shooting\, and Intro part 2.  We already have a full Intro part 1 class for Jan 8 and will hold another in mid-late Feb.  Intro part 2 will follow in March.  More details soon.

Things get quickly complicated when you discover a compound with what looks like a tower antenna. Is it operational? Could you send out a long range message? How many Marauders stand in the way? \nYou are forced to choose between leaving and not knowing if others are out there or Navigating a storm of Marauders controlling what maybe\, one of the last operational radio towers in the zone. \nRunning low on ammo. Make your way across the dilapidated building with long distance rifle shots till you run out then defend your way with the side arm to the radio controls. \nIf you are over run and forced to Destroy the generator that powers the tower\, what will you use? Check your backpack! With the radiation\, get in and get out as time is not on your side.

But now you have bigger issues\, a hole in your water jug and running low on water… the essential of life. \nAt this point its survival mode! Your going to have to return back where you scavenge before to find a water-can or container but Marauders are everywhere. Water is heavy and you need to carry out as much as you can. Use your strong hand to carry the water and learn to shoot with your weak hand is key. \nWith radiation blowing everywhere get in and get out as time is not on your side.

Target the game food but don’t rush into danger till you have cleared the rest of the field. \nNavigate through the marauders taking one situation at a time. Under fire there are surprise targets and Pragmatic rats. (April 21\, 28\, May 5\, 12)\nTimes: Thursday Nights 5:30- 7 pm.\nDuration:  1 ½  hours\nParticipants: A maximum of 20 shooters.\nAge: 12 Youth to Adult.\nFee: $40.00 one-time fee per person to join this league competition.\nEquipment: -Bring your own max 308 caliber and have an Outpost Range Card.\nDivisions: Open Class- Divisions Grouped: Youth 12- 17 and Adult 18 up.\nDistance: 100 yards.\nScoring: Shooter is scored out of a possible 500 points and 50 X’s.\n-scoring maybe posted online and in the range for public viewing.\nPrizes: $100 to first place winner. \nYouth/ Minor Requirements: \nResponsible Mature Youth/Minor ages 12 to 17 are required to be accompanied by a Parent/Legal Guardian or Staff at the range. The parent responsible for the Youth/Minor may shoot from the firing line lane next to the youth shooter. \nSafety Rules – \n– In the interests of safety and the well-being\, all competitors must be able to set up\, load\, fire and break down rifle under control and without undue difficulty. If\, in the opinion of the Range Safety Officer (RSO)\, the competitor shows undue difficulty the competitor may be asked to skip the competition until further practice or difficulty is resolved.\n\n1. Follow the instructions of the Range Officer. Give attention and listen to the commands given. Ask questions if you do not understand what is said. \n\nAlways inspect your equipment before shooting. Damaged equipment should be repaired or replaced to avoid injuries.\nAt the Firing Line- AIM your rifle only in the direction of your target. The rifle must always be pointed down range. Always be sure you know which target is yours and that it is safe to shoot. If you’re not sure take a closer look\, if you’re still not sure\, do not shoot and ask.\nOnce you have finished the string stand behind the yellow waiting line. This helps the other shooters know your finished shooting.\nAlways walk; never run\, on the range. If you run\, you might accidentally trip and fall.\nAlways use correct ammo for your rifle. No steel core allowed.\nFollow the Outpost Range SOP.\n\n  \nCompetition Rules –\n1. 4-week program\, minimum of 3 weeks scoring required for the grand prizes and Bragging Rights.\n2. Shooter may either drop their lowest score from all 4 weeks or not attend one week.\n3. Shooter will fire 10 rounds within a 3 minute timespan per string\, for a total of 5 strings.\n4. After each strings the shooters take a 10-minute break.\n5. Any unfired or miss rounds would be counted as zero points.\n6. A round touching the line marking the edge of a greater scoring area shall be given the higher score.\n7. A Shooter is scored out of a possible 500 points and possible 50 x’s.\n-X rings are counted for tie breakers.\n8. Order of shooting the 5 strings-\n-The first 3 strings are shot following the order of these shooting positions:\n* #1-seated supported\, #2-seated unsupported and #3-prone supported.\n*#4 & #5 are shot at the shooters discretion from above positions (Shooters Choice).\n9. After each round\, shooters will use the buddy scoring system with the person next to them. Each buddy would score the others then return the score sheet to the original shooter. At the end of each night shooters will turn in their score sheet to the RSO’s where final score is recorded.\n-It is the responsibility of the shooter to verify their score is correct.\n10. At the end of 4 weeks\, the shooter with the highest total score will be chosen as winner.\n11. Shooters may show up 20 minutes early to practice or sight-in following the RSOs’ range commands.\n12. Shooters are reminded this is a family friendly competition and there will be zero tolerance for any foul play\, horseplay\, belligerence\, or poor attitude. Be Happy\, Safe and Have Fun.
